For many first-generation learners, the challenge is not a lack of ability. It is often a lack of access to information, guidance, financial resources, networks, and opportunities.
Limited exposure to scholarships, competitive examinations, higher education, digital tools, and career pathways can restrict aspirations and confidence.
FGLF works to bridge this opportunity gap by creating pathways that connect education with mentorship, skills, leadership and opportunity.
We believe education creates access, mentorship builds confidence, skills create capability, leadership creates agency, and opportunity creates dignity.
And when learners become leaders, they can create opportunities for others.

First Generation Leadership Foundation (FGLF) is a youth-led nonprofit organization working to empower first-generation learners and young people through education, mentorship, leadership development, skills, fellowships, and community engagement.
Established in 2025, FGLF works with students, youth, educators, volunteers, institutions, and community partners to create meaningful learning and leadership opportunities.
Our work is rooted in a simple belief:
Every learner should have the opportunity to learn, lead and build a dignified future.
Our work currently focuses on education and youth development, with initiatives rooted in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and partnerships that enable wider engagement.

We work across interconnected areas of development rather than treating education as only academic learning.
Creating meaningful learning experiences, educational support, learning resources, and pathways to scholarships and higher education.
Helping young people develop communication, critical thinking, leadership, social responsibility, career awareness, and the confidence to take initiative.
Supporting educators through professional learning, pedagogy, classroom practice, technology, AI, reflection, communication, mentoring, and collaborative learning.
Creating immersive learning environments where young people can develop professionally and personally through training, field engagement, mentorship, and practical experience.
Creating spaces to explore human understanding, relationships, behaviour, responsibility, coexistence, and conscious living.

Our programs bring together learning, experience, mentorship,
leadership and opportunities.
Vidya Fellowship is a youth-focused teacher-development program by FGL Foundation in association with Anand Niketan. It combines professional learning with self-understanding, experiential learning, communication, leadership, digital literacy, AI, relationships, reflection, and Jeevan Vidya.
The fellowship is designed to develop educators who are not only professionally capable, but also reflective, responsible and conscious human beings.
Shiksha Sahay is a volunteer-led educational initiative supporting students preparing for NMMS, PSE and JNV examinations.
College volunteers contribute their time, knowledge and resources to help students prepare for examinations and navigate educational opportunities.
The initiative connects:

Numbers help us understand scale. Stories help us understand change. Through the experiences of learners, fellows, educators and volunteers, we see how access to guidance, learning and opportunity can influence confidence, aspirations, choices and action.
A student’s journey through educational guidance and scholarship preparation.
A Vidya Fellow’s journey of professional growth, self-reflection and classroom development.
How sustained support can help a young learner participate, communicate and aspire differently.
A volunteer’s journey from contributing time to developing a deeper understanding of education and community.

Our work is guided by the belief that meaningful impact is not simply about reaching people—it is about creating pathways that lead to greater confidence, learning, opportunity and leadership.
We measure our work through:

We believe that when one learner gets the opportunity to learn and lead, they can create opportunities for many others.
